Chasity Ervin Memphis, TN Car Accident, Death: Unexpected Departure

The Memphis community is grappling with grief following a tragic crash in the Raleigh area that claimed the life of Chasity Ervin and left two infants fighting for their lives. The late-night incident has left a lasting emotional impact, highlighting the devastating toll such events take on families and communities.

Authorities from the Memphis Police Department report that the collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Stage Road near Robbiedon Street. Investigators say a Nissan Murano, driven by 33-year-old Travis Johnson, lost control, struck a median, and overturned, creating a chaotic and tragic scene.

Chasity Ervin, a passenger in the vehicle, lost her life in the crash. Her sudden passing has left her loved ones heartbroken, as they try to come to terms with a loss that came without warning. She is now being remembered for the life she lived and the connections she shared with those around her.

Two very young children, believed to be Johnson’s infants—just one year old and two months old—were also in the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. They were rushed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where they continue to receive urgent care. Their condition has drawn widespread concern, with many hoping for their recovery.

At the scene, officers noted signs suggesting impairment. Johnson reportedly had bloodshot eyes, and containers of Colt 45 beer were found nearby. Authorities believe alcohol may have played a significant role in the crash.

After receiving medical treatment, Johnson was taken into custody and now faces several charges, including DUI, reckless driving, public intoxication, and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was later booked into the Shelby County Jail.

As the investigation moves forward, the community remains united in grief and concern—mourning Chasity Ervin’s loss while holding onto hope for the two young children.
